New Jet Black iPhone 7 Is A Fingerprint Magnet and Scratches Easily

Whether or not Apple has made a sensible decision to do away with the 3.5mm jack on the iPhone only time will tell.

The iPhone 7 is here, and gone is the headphone jack.

The RockStar adapter will work with any device running iOS 10, so you can use your fancy Lightning EarPods with your iPad.

The new iPhones arrive on September 16th and will replace the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus as the company’s flagship options. But the biggest news from the event was what everyone already expected: the end of the headphone jack. This enables you to plug in your Lightning headphones – or Lightning-to-3.5-mm adapter – and a charger at the same time.

But what about audio quality?

The removal of the 3.5mm audio jack has given manufacturers the opportunity to bring in alternate accessories to fill the gap.

Plug your phone into the dock, using a USB-to-lightning cable to connect the dock to a power source (or a PC) and you can charge the phone. For instance, if you took the AirPods out, the music will playback through the smartphone.

“The absence of the headphone socket comes at a time when nearly every premium wired headphone is connected to a smartphone using this socket”. The new AirPods are compatible with iPad, iPod Touch, Mac or Apple Watch with a one-tap setup in Control Center.

Carphone Warehouse has confirmed that it will be stocking the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, both sizes, and in all the colours. Once you paired with a device, iCloud will make use of to share pairing data with every device registered with that ID.

And that’s the thing!

As we noted in yesterday’s short column, Apple staged its annual September new-and-or-improved product announcements and rollouts in San Francisco Tuesday, debuting a pair of impressively updated iPhone 7 models and a welcome new edition of the Apple Watch, the Apple Watch 2. But the cheapest 32GB iPhone 7 will cost 599 pounds ($799) in the U.K. That’s equivalent to a price hike of 11% over the iPhone 6S, which was available for 539 pounds. Apple might have cleverly put the DAC into their $9 “dongle” adapter. New phones will actually be available in a week or so, though the black models look like they’ll be delayed somewhat.

No one’s really sure, and Apple declined to comment about it.

T-Mobile will give you a free 32GB iPhone 7 when you trade in an iPhone 6 or newer model
