Five-door model gets a performance upgrade. It is now the Mini with the most torque.

The brand that showed “small is beautiful” has been playing a different tune lately, the newest additions to its line-up suggesting “bigger is better”.
Paired with standard all-wheel drive, the Clubman JCW delivers 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque from its 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder.
“We’re extremely excited to announce that the John Cooper Works Clubman will be displayed at the Paris motor show, said Daniel Silverwood, Product Planning Manager for MINI Australia”.
As expected, the six-door Mini Clubman has been given the Works treatment to bring it in line with the other members of the burgeoning BMW division.
The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard, or an optional eight-speed Steptronic auto. Power is then directed to all four wheels. Backed by either its standard 6-speed manual or optional 8-speed Steptronic sport automatic with shifter paddles and aided by Launch Control, the new JCW Clubman sprints to 60 miles per hour in 6.0 seconds.
The vehicle even has launch control function, which “enables traction-optimized acceleration with maximum dynamic performance from a stopped position”.
The latest version of the ALL4 all-wheel-drive system routinely channels power to the front wheels for maximum mileage, but can quickly shift torque wherever it is needed. It also comes with a sports exhaust, refined suspension technology and powerful Brembo brakes. Compared to the standard Clubman, the John Cooper Works variant sits 0.4 inches lower to the ground, giving it a lower center of gravity and a sportier stance.
Buyers can choose from a stock sport suspension or opt for the Dynamic Damper Control that rapidly adjusts itself to both road conditions and driver input.
Options on the Mini Clubman JCW are limitless, and include an exclusive Rebel Green paint job and sport stripes. Inside, the Works Clubman also gets the more aggressive racing seats found on other hot Minis. Black 18-inch JCW wheels complete the look.

On the safety side, the JCW Clubman gets a collision warning system with low-speed emergency braking.
