Minneapolis is expected to be named the new home of ESPN’s Summer X Games in 2017 and 2018. Metallica and blink-182 have performed at previous X Games.

Will we see Minneapolis host any esport events at the 2017 festival? It was chosen after X Games put out a tender for a new city to apply just over a couple of months ago.
The US host of the Summer X Games for the past three editions has been Austin, Texas, and before then Los Angeles hosted the X Games from 2003 to 2013.
U.S. Bank Stadium offers the X Games, organized by the ESPN cable television sports channel, an inside venue.
It’s the first time the X Games have been held in the Upper Midwest since the games began in 1995. Reed also cites the new stadium’s huge video boards and common areas that can the stage musical acts that are a big draw for the X Games crowd. It was a very competitive bid process and we feel privileged to have had such great interest and thank the multiple cities that participated in the process. We’re hip and we know it, but not everyone does. “As Sports Minneapolis chair, I’m absolutely pumped and could not be prouder of our team”.
Before it even opens, U.S. Bank Stadium is adding another major sporting competition to its roster of upcoming events.
The X Games have drawn more than 100,000 fans to its four-day summer event, with about 250 athletes competing.
The stadium already has won bids to host the 2018 Super Bowl and the 2019 Final Four.

X Games sports include BMX, motocross and skateboarding. “The X Games in 2017 and 2018 will add to our high-caliber, pinnacle events that we have in our first two years of operation of U.S. Bank Stadium”.
