New New York Yankees Top Prospects: Clint Frazier, Gleyber Torres

Call it an All-Star split doubleheader.

One of the biggest trade deals of this lay low was forged on Sunday morning, when the Indians boasted that they snatched Yankees reliever Andrew Miller, after the NY squad received four players, Clint Frazier and pitcher Justus Sheffield who are both prospects to live in the MLB’s superstar lane.

The stunning trade came less than 12 hours after the AL Central leaders agreed with Milwaukee on a deal to send Brewers All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy to Cleveland. “I think it’s a complete team. That’s it. I’m not going to comment on any specifics, nothing like that, as much as I’d like to”.

“We know this is part of the process”, Brewers general manager David Stearns said.

Frazier, the highlight of the deal, was Cleveland’s No 1. prospect.

The Indians have been looking for a catcher – and a right-handed hitter – since Yan Gomes separated his shoulder earlier this month.

“It certainly should help us a lot”, Francona said. “I know when we go into NY next week, we don’t have to face Andrew Miller, which will be really nice”. Francona is expected to use him in the eighth inning along with right-hander Bryan Shaw as the bridge to Allen. A person familiar with the trade says Sunday, July 31, 2016, that the Cleveland Indians have acquired left-hander Miller from the New York Yankees.

The Indians sent four minor-leaguers, including highly touted outfielder Clint Frazier, to NY for the 31-year-old Miller. The club has resisted parting with top prospects in the past, but team owner Paul Dolan and the front office believe this is a year worth going for it. “We want to try to do what we can to get to the postseason and win a World Series”. Miller has more than $21 million left on his contract, which runs through 2018, and sources have told ESPN’s Jayson Stark that the Indians are on the Hook for all of it. Wherever Tito asks me to pitch, I’ll pitch.

Lucroy said Sunday he wasn’t going to go into the details behind his decision. They went and got the best there is. The starting rotation gets a lot of credit, deservedly so, but the lineup’s great.

The Yankees reacquired Tyler Clippard on Sunday, obtaining the reliever from the Arizona Diamondbacks for Vicente Campos in a swap of right-handed pitchers.

Possessing a almost unhittable slider, the 31-year-old Miller is 6-1 with a 1.39 ERA. In all, NY was able to add eight total prospects for the price of just two relievers. He might be the steal of any of the Yankees trades this deadline.

CHICAGO – The Baltimore Orioles acquired left-hander Wade Miley in a trade with the Seattle Mariners.

Miller has had another effective season, pitching to a 1.39 ERA and 1.77 FIP over 45.1 innings. He pitched seven innings, allowing one hit, in Seattle’s 4-1 victory against the major league-leading Chicago Cubs on Saturday. This year, he has been almost as dominant in Advanced A and is expected to be a hard throwing, left handed, mid-rotation starter a few more years down the line. He appeared in one game for Baltimore on July 3 at Seattle, giving up three runs and four hits in two innings. Frazier was the No. 5 overall pick in 2013.

The Indians’ interest in Beltran has been known since the trade deadline talks began heating up, and those fires are apparently still burning, as ESPN’s Buster Olney tweeted last night that the Tribe are one of the teams still poking around for a potential trade.

Feyereisen: Still 23-years-old, Feyereisen is in AA with a 2.23 ERA as a closer.

This season, the 31-year-old is on pace for the best year of his career. McKinney has not displayed any power in his minor league career and is not considered a base stealer.
