New Nexus 6P version gets benchmarked with Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM

If HTC is the company tasked with making this year’s Nexus devices, it won’t be the first Nexus smartphone from the company. Ever since, it has been nowhere near Google’s Nexus line of devices (apart from the Nexus 9), with players such as LG, ASUS, and Samsung taking center stage.

We already new HTC was the likely victor in Google’s annual build-a-Nexus contest, but two reports today suggest the company is actually building two devices.

Rumors have been doing rounds that HTC will probably work alongside last year’s manufacturer of the Nexus 6P – Huawei. He had previously been spot on with previous Nexus rumors, as well as HTC releases, so I’m inclined to believe him.

The device runs on the upcoming Android N and in the motherboard section it was mentioned as Marlin.

The Google Nexus 7 2016 might come sooner than expected. This is obvious, according to Gotta Be Mobile, with the HTC Nexus One. Judging by recent Nexus tablet attempts, we hope it’s the former.

HTC made the first Nexus phone in 2010.

This has been a long time coming, but when Evan Blass says it’s true, there’s hardly a chance that it’s not – HTC is going to be responsible for the 2016 Nexus devices. M1 is for Marlin and S1 is for Sailfish, apparently. Google might have chose to keep the “6P” moniker as the new smartphone might be identical in design to the one released a year ago. The 2014 Nexus 6, on the other hand, was referred as “Shamu”.

Evleaks dropped a big one a couple of minutes ago, and it involves the relationship between Google, HTC and Nexus.

Android N is Google’s latest version, now available in a preview to developers. Reportedly, the new 2016 Nexus phone will have a screen size of 5 and 5.5-inch respectively. Then again, the entire cycle seems a little rushed this year so who knows what will happen.
