New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees faces lingering questions

“If you go back to his days even at Tampa (from 2005-2008), he had a win here in the Dome (in 2007)”, Payton said.

Hopefully for the Saints, Brees won’t miss any time.

Brees did not throw during the New Orleans Saints’ Wednesday practice.

“Each day you wake up, you see how you feel, what maybe more you can do compared to the day before”, Brees said.

Brees said the key is balancing rest and rehab through the week so that he’s as strong as possible by kickoff. After suffering a bruised rotator cuff in Week 2, there’s no guarantee he’ll be on the field Sunday against the Panthers.

The 36-year-old Brees did not attempt any passes during Wednesday’s practice.

If Brees ends up sitting out, the Saints most likely would turn to career backup Luke McCown.

Carolina Panthers’ Cam Newton (1) celebrates his touchdown pass with Derek Anderson (3) and Joe Webb (14) during the first half of an NFL football game against the Houston Texans in Charlotte, N.C., Sunday, September 20, 2015.

“I think our thoughts, and Drew’s the same way, our training staff feels like there’s a real good chance he’s playing for us, and we expect that to happen”. It was the leader in the clubhouse for the day’s most unwatchable matchup, which lasted until the start of America’s game of the week.

Drew Brees has a shoulder injury.

“First, we have to assign value to yards and we have done that as 100 yards equaling seven points”.

Saints Director of player programs Fred McAfee played for Panthers offensive coordinator Mike Shula during his stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1999.

“Just knowing that I’ll be able to play again, it’s a blessing”, Ellerbe said, referencing a 2014 injury while with the Miami Dolphins that landed him on injured reserve. Through two games, the Saints have been penalized 17 times for 188 yards.

Right now I would imagine that Brees is truly a game time decision, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all that he plays. If the Saints can take the pressure off Brees with a healthy rushing attack these next few weeks, they’ll also make life easier on a defense that mixes very bad struggles with bright moments. New Orleans also has rookie Garrett Grayson, whom they drafted in the third round of this spring’s draft. Before we get too far into what is needed from each respective team, what connections exist between the two franchises when they play this weekend?

“If I start jumping into hypotheticals then all of a sudden I am reading about where I think [backup quarterback Luke McCown] is playing or what not”.
