New Orleans Saints lose running back Khiry Robinson for the season

He went to training camp this summer with the Saints and made the 53-man roster. But he stressed that rookie running back/return man Marcus Murphy is also capable of stepping up into the Saints’ No. 3 job behind veterans Mark Ingram and C.J.

Saints Head Coach Sean Payton announced Monday morning Robinson had surgery to fix the break. Immediately after becoming injured, his teammates surrounded him on the turf to offer support and prayers as an air cast was placed on Robinson’s leg and he was placed on a motorized cart.

“We felt like Tim would give us a few first and second down versatility”, Payton said on the show. “And all of a sudden, knowing his season’s come to an end”.

Saints RB Khiry Robinson has been diagnosed with a broken right tibia, and is done for the season.

Ingram will likely have to carry a heavier load with Robinson gone and should be in line for more goal line work. Spiller – both of whom could also take on slightly bigger roles. “He had a good training camp and he’s in great shape”. Spiller has averaged 16.7 snaps a game and hasn’t seen more than 21 plays in any of his seven contests this season.

If he doesn’t pick up a few of Robinson’s carries, it seems possible that Spiller’s targets could ramp up in the passing game.
