New Orleans shooting rampage: Eight people shot, two fatally, in gun violence
A 39-year-old man who was shot while holding a 2-year-old boy outside a house on Laharpe Street in the 7th Ward Tuesday evening, died at the University Medical Center hours after he was rushed to the hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe two men got out of a vehicle and approached the man and child, at which point the situation escalated.
NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said two black men exited a gray Infiniti parked somewhere near the corner and walked to where the man and child were sitting on the porch.
In the latest wave of New Orleans gun violence, eight people were shot, two of them fatally, on Tuesday. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
In Jefferson Parish, a shooting was reported just before 8 p.m.in the 1100 block of Scotsdale Drive in Harvey.
Police say that one man was found dead and three others were taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. Police have not released additional details about the shooting.
In the most recent incident in Orleans, a man was shot in the leg at about 9 p.m.in the 500 block of S. Cortez Street. When officers arrived, a man had been shot in the leg.
