New rancour, tough talk in Clinton-Sanders Democratic debate
Clinton shot back, accusing Sanders of voting against the bailout of the auto industry, which is a major employer in MI.

Clinton still holds a commanding lead in the delegate count, having amassed victories in states with diverse electorates more reflective of the modern Democratic Party, and the deficit is becoming increasingly hard for her opponent to overcome. Both candidates frequently interrupted each over one another and accused each other of misrepresenting their records. “Sanders’ “excuse me I’m talking” may not be sexist but certainly was patronising”, tweeted Neera Tanden, President of the Centre for American Progress and a friend of Ms. Clinton.
“Secretary Clinton supported virtually every one of the disastrous trade agreements written by corporate America”, Sanders said to cheers.
Sanders cracked up the audience with a joke.
Both had a good laugh at that.
Both candidates said they would beat Republican front-runner Donald Trump if they face the brash billionaire businessman in the November presidential election. “I have said, and I’ll repeat here, I think that Donald Trump’s bigotry, his bullying, his bluster, are not going to wear well on the American people”, she said.
And although it will all come down to the Midwestern states in the end, the Democrats, Rall maintains, won’t wish to tip the balance of their support in favor of Clinton if they see Sanders has a better chance of standing up to Trump and the Republicans.
Sanders and Clinton agreed on much during their debate, particularly on the need for accountability in Flint, where state government decisions about water piping have led to mass contamination of the drinking water.
“It didn’t take long in this debate for Hillary Clinton to once again adopt a Bernie Sanders position, I think that’s fantastic”, Devine said.
“The money was there and had to be released in order to save the auto industry and 4 million jobs and to begin the restructuring”, Clinton said. Did I vote against the Wall Street bailout? “I will be damned if it was the working people of this country who have to bail out the crooks on Wall Street”.
Fourteen-year-old Abigail Kopf survived the Kalamazoo shooting rampage and her father, Gene Kopf, represented her at Sunday night’s debate.
The two candidates were asked what they would do to address the epidemic of mass shootings in the United States.
The change corroded Flint’s aging pipes and released lead and other toxins into the water supply, exposing thousands of residents including children to high lead levels that have sparked serious health problems.
“Secretary Clinton wants everybody else to release it. Well, I’m your Democratic opponent, I release it, here it is”.
Clinton repeated that she would release the transcripts if her rivals made public their own transcripts from paid speeches. “Here it is. There ain’t nothin’. There ain’t nothing! I don’t give speeches to Wall Street!”
Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) sparred Sunday in a MI debate peppered with testy exchanges over trade policy and gun rights.
Sanders had called for Snyder’s resignation before. Prior to the contest in Maine, Clinton had at least 1,123 delegates to Sanders’ 484, including superdelegates – members of Congress, governors and party officials who can support the candidate of their choice.

Just a few minutes after the debate started, the Associated Press declared that Sanders had won the Maine Democratic caucuses, gaining his eighth win over Clinton in 19 nominating contests.
