As revealed in leaked owner’s manual images last month, the Megane sedan complements the existing hatch and wagon variants in the Megane range and Renault says it’s “equipped with features from the segment above”.

Sharing both cars new styling, that includes its striking C-shaped LED headlamps, the sedan is also based on the Megane’s larger Common Module Family (CMF) architecture and is said to offer generous levels of rear-seat space and a large boot.
The five-seater 4dr is coming down the line – as the new Megane hatchback version has just recently gone on sale here. It also features a glass roof that links the windscreen with the rear windshield. Also offered is a 7.0-inch TFT LCD instrument display, a colour head-up display and a Multi-Sense system with five driving modes.
The Megane sedan gets driver aids such as park assist, emergency braking and lane departure warning as standard.
Four engines are available, depending on the market, with two petrol options in the form of an 85kW normally aspirated 1.6-litre or 96kW 1.2-litre turbo and three turbodiesels ranging from 66kW to 96kW.
Renault will build the new Megane Sedan at their Bursa plant in Turkey and plans to sell it in more than 20 countries around the world, including Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia.
That leaves the 97kW 1.2-litre turbo petrol with either six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch as the sportiest drivetrain for now if, as expected, it’s confirmed as one of the options for Australia.

On the oil-burning side, there’s a 1.5 litre turbodiesel offered in 90 PS/220 Nm Energy dCi 90 and 110 PS/260 Nm Energy dCi 110 variants, with either a six-speed manual or – in the case of the 110 PS version – a six-speed EDC. No mention of Malaysia, but we’re crossing our fingers and holding our breath!
