Abrams has confirmed that Chris Hemsworth will return in Star Trek 4.

Filmmaker JJ Abrams and the team of Star Trek Beyond paid tribute to one of the cast members, Anton Yelchin, who died last month after a freak automobile accident at his home in Studio City.

Abrams, who directed the first two films of the rebooted franchise, and cast members wore black Star Trek pins on their lapels to honor 27-year-old Yelchin, who died when his vehicle accidentally rolled backward and pinned him against a fence.

The actor died on June 19 after his Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled down his driveway and he was pinned against a letter box pillar and a security fence.

Now producer J.J. Abrams has revealed a decision has been made to retire the role of Ensign Pavel Chekov as a mark of respect to Yelchin. “Anton’s parents are here, Irina and Victor”.

George is the father of Captain James T. Kirk, who was last seen in the original “Star Trek” film in 2009.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. At least in terms of new work within Abrams’ run on the rebooted film franchise.

“I would say there’s no replacing him”, “There’s no re-casting”. “There’s no re-casting. I can’t possibly imagine that, and I think Anton deserves better”.

Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty and co-wrote the latest movie, said “He was an incredible guy and this is for him tonight”.

“We already knew this would be a bitter-sweet experience because of the loss of Leonard [Nimoy] previous year, but this has just been absolutely devastating for all of us”.
