New ‘Star Wars’ plot cloaked in unprecedented secrecy
Newcomer Daisy Ridley was sworn to secrecy for three months that she had even been cast in the film. “So they decided they didn’t want to use those stories; they decided they were going to do their own thing so I decided, ‘Fine'”. “I don’t know how everybody else kept their mouth shut”, said Lupita Nyong’o, who’s computer-generated character Maz Kanata has not appeared in any trailers up to this point. “That’s how secretive it was”. We are less than two weeks away from the seventh feature-length theatrical installment of the series, and there has been a widely (and wisely) publicized overhaul in the creative approach to the new movie: a promised return to the spirit of what Star Wars used to be.

Gwendoline Christie, who made a name for herself in Game of Thrones, personifies Captain Phasma, one of the film’s villains.
He revealed: “I went over to Harrison and said, ‘Can you sign my doll?’ and he was like, ‘This is weird, but I’ll sign it for you”‘. “Obviously everybody’s talking to one another, working together and collaborating, and that I think is what’s going to guarantee that everybody’s got a say in how we move forward with this”, she said at the press conference.
Producer Kathleen Kennedy did divulge something fans will not see.
Speaking to Vulture at a recent event at the Kennedy Center Honors, where Lucas was being honored for his lifetime achievements in arts and culture, he clarified, “I think the fans are going to love it. It’s very much the kind of movie they’ve been looking for”. Following the conclusion of “Return of the Jedi“, the fans will be shown “The Force Awakens” – which will then play on repeat until only one participant is left standing. There’s also a new scene from Rey and BB-8 where she asks about the little droid.
Much of what is said in the minute-long clip – stuff like the fact that Rey is a scavenger on the new desert planet of Jakku – has been gleaned from a lot of the previous trailers.
Missing from the footage is Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker but there are sweeping shots of the Millennium Falcon, Storm Troopers and plenty of action accompanied by a soaring score. It has been rumored for days that “The Force Awakens” will include a radical turn for the son of Darth Vader, with speculation rampant that he possibly has joined the dark side of the Force.
Why such mystery surrounding Luke?
“The shorthand is that he’s older and wiser, but his bones are the same”, Ford said.
