New Study Finds That Xbox Live Is Technically Superior To PlayStation Network

In summary, IHS Markit settles that Xbox Live has beaten PlayStation Network in terms of log in, enjoining friends to parties and also voice chat quality, which was just based on subjective data but averaged. It shows that Xbox Live outperforms the Playstation Network all over majority of the categories, Polygon.com reports. “As in the two tests above for Reliability and Speed, Xbox Live produced higher scores in Overall Quality than PlayStation Network in three out of four metrics”. The results here were much the same as they were for reliability, as seen below; PlayStation Network slightly excels at finding players faster, but Xbox Live is overall quicker at uploading data and letting players log in.

This report comes from the analytical firm IHS Markit who found during their comparison of both online services that Xbox Live came out on top in most testable categories such as speed and general reliability. PSN once again held a slight advantage when it came to the speed of matchmaking.

“The Overall Quality experience combined both Speed and Reliability metrics while also including other indicators of game quality, such as the ability to join gameplay with friends and share achievements, as well as the quality of sound for voice chat”, says the report.

However, for whatever this information may or may not be worth to you, it does appear that under these conditions, Xbox Live can boast a superior level of service. Logging into the Network and Game Servers were clearly in Xbox’s favor. Sony came later with its variant of PlayStation platform, which today goes by the PlayStation Network and is by far the largest game network for consoles.
