Star cricketer Suresh Raina is one of the million fans of the superstar Rajinikanth.
“It’s something that can’t be explained in words”.
“That day Hindi superstar Dharmendra was also shooting there and for dinner, even though I was not invited he came to my room and said, “Maneka, you please join us for dinner”, she said.
Shubhra Gupta, one of India’s leading film critics, said the Rajinikanth phenomenon was not easy to explain.
Rajinikanth’s last two releases “Lingaa” and “Kochadaiyaan” had bombed at the box office but fans are happy to see the “Rajini magic” back in “Kabali”. However, there’s fire in Rajinikanth’s performance and it’s a treat to see the 65-year-old superstar, acting his age effortlessly and as stylishly as we might have never seen him before.
The producer says they have remained friends ever since and share an “amazing connection” with each other.
Several companies in the city, a burgeoning IT hub, said so many staff had asked for Friday off that they had chose to simply close for the day. Kabali is full of action and more of the scenes had attracted the audience towards it. Kabali received a great response from the audience on the very first day of its release and had done a great collection on the box office.
“Saluting” Rajinikant, celebrities like director S.S. Rajamouli, Madhur Bhandarkar, Kunal Kohli and Dhanush expressed their energised sentiments on Twitter while some shared their disappointment over missing the first day, first show of the film due to work.
Budget airline Air Asia laid on a special Kabali flight from Bangalore to Chennai, featuring Rajinikanth’s favourite food.

Sporting a grey beard, Rajinikanth plays Kabali, a rubber plantation worker who walks out of prison in Malaysia after a 25-year term. In his search for revenge, he is reunited with his family and rains destruction on his foes. Trade experts have predicted that the film will easily set a new day one opening record in Tamil Nadu by beating the previous best, Vedhalam. The film also stars Radhika Apte, Kishore, Dinesh, Kalaiarasan, Dhansikaa, Ritwika and Winston Chao. One finance company in southern India has minted special silver coins with Rajinikanth’s visage and priced the five-gram coin at $5.30 each.
