New Trump Campaign Manager Kellyanne Conway on Manafort’s Resignation: ‘He Was Asked’
The speech came just hours before Trump’s campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, resigned his position, saying he doesn’t want to be a distraction to the candidate.

The shakeup comes less than three months to the election in November.
In an interview with WABC’s Rita Cosby, she said, “He was asked and he indeed tendered his resignation today and Mr. Trump accepted his resignation and wished him well and thanked him for his service”.
Paul Manafort, the man hired by Donald Trump to lead the effort to make him president of the United States, has quit. Bannon’s hiring was seen as a signal Trump would double-down on some of his more controversial impulses, though that hasn’t proven to be the case in the first few days of their new partnership.
“I think campaigns have different phases”, said Representative Scott DesJarlais of Tennessee, one of the first House Republicans to back Trump.
“He does not like to be leaked about”.
The ad doubles down on the candidate’s immigration-focused message, predicting that in Democrat “Hillary Clinton’s America, the system stays rigged against Americans”.
But Manafort also became a source of continuing controversy for the campaign in his own right.
Manafort’s consulting work for Yanukovych was already public. It said the ledgers were discovered by a Ukrainian anticorruption bureau as “part of an illegal off-the-books system whose recipients also included election officials”. Last night in North Carolina, however, the Republican presidential hopeful surprised by doing largely the opposite: as NBC News’ report noted, Trump “expressed regret and admitted wrong doing – though it’s unclear exactly for what”. He is believed to have prevented Trump from picking Chris Christie as his running mate, because the New Jersey governor had as USA attorney in 2005, brought down Kushner’s father Charles Kushner and thrown him in jail. The paper reported that Manafort is not the target of the probe.
But Trump “was not a candidate that could be corralled”, former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said on MSNBC television.

Trump’s supportive comments of Russian President Vladimir Putin had already drawn criticism. The billionaire called Manafort “a true professional”.
Manafort was also dogged by reports about secretive efforts he made to help the former pro-Russian government in Ukraine, where he worked on and off for several years.

Paul Manafort and his deputy, Rick Gates, never disclosed their work as foreign agents as required under federal law. “Look at all the Trump turnover while Robby Mook with New Hampshire ties has been at the head of Hillary Clinton’s campaign since the beginning”. Paul Manafort, the embattled chairman of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign who has been under fire in connection with a Ukrainian corruption investigation, tendered his resignation on August 19, 2016.
