Then, near the intersection of Magazine and St. Andrew, more surveillance video captures the Hummer stopping abruptly after possibly getting bumped from behind by a Mercedes SUV.

The Hummer then pulls over but the Mercedes, rather than stop to inspect for any damage, pulls around it and drives away.

Hayes, 28, was arrested Sunday on a charge of second-degree murder and did not enter a plea during his initial court appearance Sunday.

Hayes’ attorney said his client will plead not guilty.

Police said Smith, 34, was killed in a case of road rage by a man who had rear-ended his vehicle.

John Fuller, Hayes’ attorney, claimed previously his client was involved in a hit-and-run incident and trailed the vehicle that hit him. He said Hayes called 911 after he was hit and convinced a witness who was about to leave to remain and talk to police.

Smith’s wife, Raquel, was shot in the right leg. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene after a verbal altercation with Hayes, police said Monday. A police spokesman couldn’t say if that charge will be for aggravated battery or attempted second-degree murder.

Why was Will Smith killed?

Authorities said there was no evidence to suggest either weapon found during a search of the vehicles Tuesday morning was sacked during the shooting and that the gun in Smith’s vehicle was fully loaded.

Instead, police said Hayes shot Smith with a different handgun.

Smith played for the New Orleans Saints. “My leg has been shot!”

Surveillance footage from area businesses show two cars, of similar makes and models, driving through New Orleans on Saturday night, as reported by CNN affiliate WVUE.

Mathieu would later go on to say the alleged shooter was someone who would bully smaller students when they grew up together in the city. His best season came in 2009 when he led the team with 13.5 sacks as New Orleans won their only Super Bowl.

“We are thankful for the outpouring of support and prayers”, a statement from Smith’s family reads.
