New water park to debut on Harmony of the Seas

Harmony of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, will feature the Royal Caribbean’s first water park on board.

Along with the thrill rides that will appeal to the older kids and adults, there will also be a toddler-friendly zone that will have a multitude of sea creatures, a huge drench bucket, and an expansive jungle gym, according to USA Today. The Ultimate Abyss is a slide that whisks passengers down 10 stories, starting at the top pool level and ending at the Boardwalk, one of the ship’s themed “neighborhoods”.

Harmony of the Seas will be the first in a new generation of Oasis class ships where groundbreaking architectural innovations are combined with breakthrough technologies of the Quantum class. The ship will debut in May 2016 for her inaugural summer season showcasing Europe’s most popular cruise destinations on seven-night Western Mediterranean itineraries calling on Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Spain; Provence, France; Florence/Pisa, Rome and Naples, Italy. Supercell will have a champagne bowl right before the big splash finale.

The Harmony Of The Seas will feature a 100-foot plunge, considered to be the tallest water slide at sea. Lauderdale, FL, offering seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings.

What do you think of the Royal Caribbean’s first water park? Royal Caribbean has not yet released much details about this slide but it will be among the most thrilling and innovative slides at sea.

The Quantum-class ship will carry more than 5,400 passengers.

Registered at a gross 227,000 tons, Harmony of the Seas will have 2,747 cabins and span 16 decks, and similar to Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas, Harmony will offer seven locations such as Central Park, Boardwalk and the Royal Promenade as well as a spa and fitness center.
