New Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Games Will Be Announced Monthly

In a post published on November 24 on Microsoft Xbox’s official news site, it was confirmed that December will see five games available for free for Games with Gold members.

Eidos Montreal’s franchise reboot, Thief, which is priced regularly at $29.99, will also be free from December 16 to January 15, reported Polygon.

For the first time ever, Xbox One gamers will be able to play this month’s Xbox 360 games with the newly released backward compatibility feature. We are also assuming that the second batch of games will be on top of whatever is announced for Xbox Games with Gold on Xbox 360 – which are now playable on Xbox One of course.

Unfortunately, CastleStorm has already been offered to Xbox One users as part of the Games with Gold program, and you’ll probably want to avoid the mediocre “Thief”, but otherwise, it’s a pretty solid month. Microsoft has announced that at this point, all 360 games released through Games with Gold will be backwards-compatible on Xbox One.

Will any of you be downloading any of these games for free? This is not to be confused with The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut, which is essentially a combination of the three games with some bonus materials as well. He’s unsure of any new boxing video game to come out on Xbox One either.

Titles are available as free downloads for qualifying Xbox Live Gold subscribers in all markets where Xbox Live is available. One of them is Sacred 3, which is described on the Steam Store as “an arcade Hack “n” Slash game for up to 4 players”. This is a military simulation game developed by Codemasters that involves the USA military taking an oil-rich island of Skira from the Chinese, who took this isle from the Russians.
