The San Diego Sheriff’s Department says they will be cracking down on drunk driving through the New Year by conducting extra patrols. State Police arrested almost 40 people for driving under the influence, which was double the number of DUI arrests compared to the year before.

Bill Cosby Officially Charged; Arrest Warrant Issued
Lena Dunham, Amy Schumer and Judd Apatow led the celebrity reaction to Bill Cosby being charged with sexual assault on Wednesday. Cosby is being arraigned Wednesday afternoon on a charge filed over a 2004 encounter in his home outside Philadelphia.

If you’re caught drinking and driving you could face jail time, fines, loss of driver’s license, towing fees, and other DUI expenses, totaling $10,000 on average.
The enforcement effort began Friday, Dec. 18 and will end Monday, Jan. 3. If someone you know is about to drive after drinking, take their keys and help them get home safely. An increased number of troopers will hit the state’s roadways in search of anyone who appears to be impaired behind the wheel.
“We’ve got to work together to make our roads safer this December and year-round”, he said.
Under the right conditions, even one drink can impair your judgment and increase the risk of getting arrested for driving drunk-or worse, the risk of having a crash.

If you have been drinking, do not drive. There are other options, such as calling friends, family members, using public transportation, or using a ride service such as a taxi, Uber or Lift.
