Rahami was arrested Monday in connection with this weekend’s bombings in NY and New Jersey.

Rahami’s father and brothers had long nursed tensions with local officials in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and some neighbors over the restaurant’s late hours.

But there is “no indication that there is a cell operating in the area or in the city”, Sweeney said, adding that “the investigation is ongoing”.

Hours later, a police officer in Linden, New Jersey, recognized Rahami after finding him sleeping in a doorway, prompting a confrontation and shootout that led to his capture.

Two years later, in April 2013, he went to Pakistan and remained there until March 2014 before returning to the USA, official said.

Linden Mayor Derek Armstead said that the owner of a bar reported someone asleep in the doorway of his establishment. “Once they picked up the bag, they seemed incredulous that they had actually picked this up off the street, and they walked off with it”. Two police officers were wounded in the gun battle.

“Within moments the suspect fired on him”.

“Thank God that he had his vest on”, the Linden mayor said. “Because I’ve never seen him angry”.

“They are not all identical, but there were certain similarities in the way the bombs were put together”, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

An unexploded pressure-cooker bomb was found streets away.

Looking back on the day, we just knew something was up when those Federal Bureau of Investigation guys went running.

His family home in Elizabeth was being searched by officers.

He was born in Afghanistan but became a naturalised American, living in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where his family complained they were being persecuted for being Muslim.

As for how investigators zeroed in on him as a suspect, three law enforcement officials said the clues included a fingerprint lifted from one of the NY sites and “clear as day” surveillance video from the bombing scene that helped identify Rahami. Both said Monday that appeared to be changing.

A backpack found near an Elizabeth, New Jersey rail station exploded as police tried to disarm multiple devices inside it.

As the investigation progressed, the FBI and State Police released photos of Rahami, warning he was considered “armed and unsafe”.

The blasts, the manhunt and an apparently unrelated stabbing attack in Minnesota over the weekend created tensions similar to those that followed other recent attacks, such as the mass shootings in Orlando and San Bernardino, California.

The Manhattan blast took place on West 23rd Street around 8:30 p.m. Saturday and injured 29 people. All have been released from the hospital, none with serious injuries. Gov. Andrew Cuomo had said earlier that it didn’t appear to be linked to worldwide terrorism. “I said, ‘He’s the guy you guys have been looking for, he’s the guy”. “I don’t understand that at all”. He said that suddenly he was very deeply religious.

“While the enemy is more nimble and harder to find, in many ways we should give at least some credit to a more nimble counterterrorism apparatus as well”, she says.

In the interview with Fox News, Maria recalled an incident that exhibited the animosity Rahami felt towards the USA military. The second device, described as a pressure cooker, was removed and did not explode.

The pipe bomb that exploded Saturday in Seaside Park went off before a charity 5K race to benefit Marines and sailors. Harris was out with three friends when the explosion occurred.

Officials announced late Sunday night the detention of up to five individuals in connection with Saturday night’s explosion in Chelsea.

Rahami was not on a terror-watch list, United States officials said, although he did have a criminal history involving weapons and assault charges.

“We all have a role to play as citizens in making sure that we don’t succumb to that fear”, he said.
