New York City Sees Record Warmth On Christmas Eve
It’s not often that you hear the word “muggy” in a weather forecast for Christmas Eve in MA. Several record highs were already set as of midday, in cities such as Charlotte, N.C., Philadelphia, New York City and Providence.

New York City hit a record high for Christmas Eve early Thursday morning, reaching 67 degrees Fahrenheit (19 degrees Celsius) to best the previous record of 63 degrees (17 degrees C). The high temperature on Christmas Day 1980 was 12 degrees, and 5 degrees in 1872.
We’re experiencing one of the strongest El Niños on record, according to Homenuk, a weather force in the Eastern Pacific ocean that warms ocean temperature that affects weather globally. In Raleigh, high temperatures will approach the record high for the day, which is 75, set back in 1955.
