New York Giants: Ben McAdoo Debuts as Head Coach
Reports surfaced on Thursday morning that the Eagles, in the wake of the Giants’ decision to hire Ben McAdoo, were focusing on their head coaching search on Tom Coughlin. A couple of chairs were pulled, a couple of guys got jobs.

The biggest question is if McAdoo can solve the $64,000 question. “I’m hardened, battle tested, and I’ve been groomed for this opportunity by Super Bowl-winning coaches, players and organizations”.
When the news hit of Smith taking over the defense in Tampa Bay, it was reported that Smith was the runner-up for the Giants head coaching job to McAdoo.
McAdoo earned praise for his work with Manning, who completed 63 percent of his passes the past two seasons under McAdoo’s tutelage and threw for 65 touchdowns with only 28 interceptions.
The Giants’ 420 points this past season was the fifth-highest total in franchise history, and their 5,952 net yards was the third-highest total. “I’m excited about that staying the same”.
“Ben is an outstanding young coach who has great experience and has done a good job as our offensive coordinator these past two years”, Mara said.
Despite the letdown that was the Giants regular season, co-owner John Mara declined to give general manager Jerry Reese the pink slip for his years of lousy draft selections and repeated failures on the free agent side. McAdoo may very well be capable of parlaying his success as an assistant to the more demanding job of head coach, but without more help from Mara-approved Reese, there’s little that he, or any other head coach for that matter, can do on the field. Gase is now head coach of the Miami Dolphins, and the Bears promoted quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains to coordinator. Thinking of a way to honor Tom, there are so many ways we can do it. But I figure the best way would be when I first walked into the building, he looked at me and said, ‘Don’t mess with the clock.’ When you look to the right here, we have our digital clocks, they’re all five minutes fast, and we’re going to stick with that. After days of seemingly being a done deal in the pundit-sphere, the deal finally got done in real life as former offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo will officially become the new head coach of the Giants.
“I was the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints and he had called me on the phone, was seeking an opportunity just to talk football”, McCarthy said. “We feel we have that in Ben McAdoo”. “He drove all night just for an opportunity to sit down and talk football”. The Giants got into the Hue Jackson game a bit too late, and chances are they would’ve hired McAdoo anyway because that’s how the Giants conduct business. The Giants hired him in 2014 to replace Kevin Gilbride and his version of the West Coast offense and the addition of Odell Beckham Jr.
In two seasons with McAdoo designing game plans and calling the plays, the Giants’ offense ranked 10th and eighth in the NFL.
Not to mention, McAdoo is a young, creative coordinator, who, if successful, could be the Giants coach for a very long time. However, there have been indications that he will be back.
McAdoo also impressed the Philadelphia Eagles when he interviewed for their coaching vacancy.
Reportedly, the Giants took a lot of inspiration from the Pittsburgh Steelers’ coaching model, and the similarities between Mike Tomlin and McAdoo are easy to see.

“We’re in evolution, not revolution”, McAdoo said. I remember the first day I met him. I’m not sure every head coach in the league would say that about himself.
