New York Giants interview Bears offensive coordinator Gase
Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase was hired Saturday as the Miami Dolphins’ ninth coach since 2004, and he’ll try to end the team’s seven-year playoff drought.

Gase departs Chicago after one season and becomes the NFL’s youngest active head coach at age 37.
A team source told the Miami Herald that while a deal was not yet finalized, the two sides are making progress.
Gase will be tasked with the development of Ryan Tannehill and turning around a Dolphins offense that regressed in 2015.
After the Miami Dolphins made Adam Gase the 12th head coach in franchise history, CBS4’s Donna Rapado took a listen to what fans thought of the move.
In Gase’s first season as offensive coordinator for Denver in 2013, the Broncos scored an NFL-record 606 points and advanced to the Super Bowl. Former Giants defensive coordinator John Fox, who is well-respected by the Giants organization, has been Gase’s head coach for the past five seasons.
With Gase’s departure, Cutler will have his sixth different offensive coordinator in eight seasons with the Bears. Tannehill was given a $96 million extension a year ago but has been inconsistent with a 29-35 record as a starter. Other candidates interviewed have been Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, and Bills running backs coach and assistant head coach Anthony Lynn.
Gase’s time with Manning was laced with anecdotes of the two late-night texting and dual-obsessing over the smallest details. Gase would be working under new Dolphins GM Chris Grier, along with vice president Mike Tannenbaum and owner Stephen Ross. Gase has worked with quarterbacks like Peyton Manning, Brock Osweiler, and Jay Cutler. He’s extremely bright on all things football, an excellent communicator and always eager to learn more. He only has six years of coaching experience at the National Football League level and it would be irresponsible for the Eagles to give him the position without giving a few more seasoned candidates (like Hue Jackson or Lovie Smith) an opportunity.
Gase was the offensive coordinator for the high-scoring Broncos in 2013-14 but also for the last-place Bears this season.

“I knew that coming into it that if we do OK that this was just going to boost him even more, and we’d probably lose him after one year”. “He is ready for this for sure”.
