New York Jets’ 2016 National Football League schedule released

In short, the New York Jets’ 2016 schedule is one of the most unusual skeds in franchise history.

The Jets, who narrowly missed the playoffs last season, will visit Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills in Week 2 and face the New England Patriots for the first time in primetime on Sunday Night Football on November 27 at home.

The New York Jets are looking to make it back to the postseason for the first time since 2010, when they went to the AFC Championship game for the second straight year before losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Jets easily have a much stronger schedule this upcoming season than a year ago. Tom Brady is 25-3 against Buffalo in his career and needs one more win to tie Brett Favre (26 wins vs. Detroit) for most wins by a starting quarterback against a single opponent. Week 16 they will play their third consecutive home game which is the longest home stretch of the season for them against their division rival the Miami Dolphins.

The NFL will announce the 2016 schedules for all 32 teams tonight at 8 on the NFL Network. The only back-to-back road games come in Weeks 4 and 5 when they will travel to New England and then out to Los Angeles to face the relocated Rams. After opening in prime time at Arizona, the Patriots will host the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football on September 22, in Week 3.

For the second year in a row, the Buffalo Bills will be making an appearance on Monday Night Football, and just like last year, it’s not going to be an easy assignment.

Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 18, Cleveland, 1 p.m. Again the only difference is the venue with the two clubs closing out the regular season at MetLife Stadium instead of the Ralph.

Although Ryan can’t control what happens with the NFL schedule, the league actually does Ryan a favor and doesn’t schedule the Bills in back-to-back West Coast games. They will play the Patriots and Seahawks back to back in Weeks 8 and 9.

The Bills 2016 opponents compiled a combined record of 133-123, a winning percentage of.520. Week 1 at Seattle, Week 2 at New England and Week 4 at Cincinnati. They haven’t played at San Fran since ’08, and December 11 will mark their first game ever at Levi’s Stadium.

The Patriots then travel to MetLife Stadium in Week 12, on November 27, for their first of two matchups against the N.Y. Jets. It will be the Jets’ sixth Christmas Eve game.

They are giving up one home game to London, and playing their other seven home games in a temporary facility that figures to have plenty of fans rooting for the road team. They get a three-game home stand against Philadelphia, L.A. and Washington.
