New York Jets CB Antonio Cromartie will play vs. Colts

Andrew Luck is obviously unbeatable, infallible and immaculate, so can’t we just put a “1” in the Jets’ loss column and save the three hours of heartbreak?

Now, for the Jets it is entirely possible that they find a way to self-destruct, as they have not failed to do time and time again. A great way to do that is to control the clock, and to do that they will need to feed Chris Ivory early and often.

Luck completed 26/49 passes for 243 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, along with 4 carries for 20 yards. The Colts were gashed for 147 yards on the ground in week one.

Then, Andrew Luck had to hurry a throw because of a cornerback blitz. His completion percentage was at 61.7. Here we finally come to what seems to be the closest thing to a common element in beating the Colts. There is still a fear that these teams beat each other up in divisional games and hurt one another’s chances at wild card bids. “When you’ve got a dynamic player like that that has special skills at pass rush, you’ve got to make sure you’ve got the right blockers on him and sometimes two”. Per Football Outsiders, Luck is a top 10 quarterback in terms of DVOA when under pressure.

His presence on the field is a boon for the Jets – in primetime vs. the Colts and beyond.

The Colts need to win the battle at the line of scrimmage.

No matter which team he’s on, the Colts have seen a lot of Ryan Fitzpatrick over the years. He was clean last week, and looked terrific.

This offseason, the Colts made a few big moves to bring in veterans like Frank Gore and Andre Johnson to hopefully help them reach their goals this season. Marshall had 6 catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. “The tallest starting cornerback for the Colts stands at 6’0”. If the Colts fall behind, they may not receive many opportunities to claw back into the game like they have before.

This one is simple. They have a physical front seven and a revamped secondary. Start somebody else.

There is still plenty of football to be played but this upcoming game against the Colts should stand for something much more than just a victory.

With Tom Brady’s four-game suspension being lifted, there’s really only one area where there might be a cause for concern on the Patriot’s end.
