New York Jets overcome Buffalo Bills in Thursday night matchup

Thursday night NY evened their record to 1-1 and dropped the hated Bills to 0-2 in their 37-31 win, showing Buffalo and the rest of the league that they are not the same old Jets.

Matt Forte rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 374 yards and a touchdown, and the Jets beat the Buffalo Bills 37-31 on Thursday night at New Era Field.

Roman, 44, was hired shortly after the Pegulas named Ryan their head coach in January 2015.

Replacing Roman as offensive coordinator will be assistant head coach and running backs coach Anthony Lynn.

The Jets showed resilience, too, in snapping a five-game skid against their AFC East rival and beating Rex Ryan, their former coach, for the first time since he was sacked in NY following the 2014 season. Thus far, after two games, in 2016 the Bills are ranked 23 in points, 29 in yards, 30 in 1 downs, 24 in passing, and 23 in rushing. The Jets were headed to Buffalo on a Thursday night – a night on the National Football League schedule that has traditionally seen some sloppy play offensively as teams struggle to prepare with the quick turnaround time.

“After every single game I meet with ownership and this morning I met and I informed ownership of my decision and they were supportive of it”, said Ryan of the Pegulas. Our biggest thing is we need to find different ways to win ballgames.

“I’m accountable for everything that goes on”, said Ryan. I like Fitz, but we’re not talking about Aaron Rodgers here. “Offense, defense, special teams, anything, you name it”.

Ryan called Lynn “an outstanding coach”, who has turned down opportunities to be an offensive coordinator in the past. It was one of the top performances of his career and possibly his best game as a Jet. “I believe we are going to do what we can to put the ball in our playmakers’ hands, and I think Anthony will do that”.

Talk about shocking, watching Gilmore and Darby get schooled time and time again had to be alarming for Ryan because if his cornerbacks can’t cover, his defense crumbles.

“He can coach them all”, said Ryan of Lynn. Marshall finished the game and was hopeful he could play at Kansas City next week.

Taylor, running back LeSean McCoy and wide receiver Sammy Watkins were not made available to the media after the team meetings Friday. However, when a coach gets released in week 2, what is going on?

Because no one circles the wagon of mediocrity like the Buffalo Bills.
