The Jets (6-5) came out with an exclamation point in a dominant victory over their AFC East rival in the Miami Dolphins (4-7).

ABOUT THE JETS (5-5): Mangold, a key to the Jets’ rushing attack, has been in and out of the lineup for several weeks while battling different injuries and suffered a severe cut on his hand last week.
The Dolphins lost to the New York Jets for the second time this season, but that wasn’t the main thing that got under Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s skin Sunday night.
The Jets traded late draft picks for Fitzpatrick and Marshall this past offseason, and on Sunday the tandem had their best performance for NY.
“That’s what you want – you want to be playing meaningful games in December, and that’s kind of where we’re at right now”, said Fitzpatrick, who trimmed his omnipresent beard earlier in the week in hopes of changing the Jets’ fortunes. The conversion came as part of a touchdown drive sparked by Grimes’ 28-yard punt return.
The Jets tacked on another touchdown on a 31 yard touchdown run by Chris Ivory, who was having a minimal impact on the game. They managed 333 yards against a revitalized Jets defense, with only 12 yards coming on the ground.
Smith’s touchdown catch, the first of his career, capped a 92-yard drive with eight seconds left in the second. His completion percentage, yards per attempt and interception rate are all worse than a year ago. Favoring the deep ball with his wide out, Fitzpatrick connected with Marshall nine times for 131 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. Ryan Tannehill had a strong game, but it wasn’t enough for Miami, who saw Rishard Matthews and Mike Pouncey injured, while starting running back Lamar Miller was overshadowed by backup Jay Ajayi.
The loss dropped Miami to 4-7 on the season and completed a sweep by the Jets. He added three catches for 11 yards to put up one point in standard-scoring leagues. “I think he’s fine”, O’Brien said. Matthews, meanwhile, needed a few minutes to get up before walking gingerly to the sideline. I would never celebrate someone getting injured during the game.

Michael Stafford managed to claim a career high five touchdown passes, with three of them going to Calvin Johnson, as the Lions claimed their third straight win.
