New York Knicks: Carmelo Anthony Denies Blocking Trade To Boston Celtics

Given their precarious position, it should come as no surprise that the Knicks were very busy leading up last Thursday’s trade deadline.

New York Knicks small forward Carmelo Anthony has admitted that the atmosphere at the side is “challenging” as their worst streak of the season continues. This is the case of Carmelo Anthony’s tenure with the New York Knicks. “We need to want to be out there, want to play, want to go deep”, Anthony told reporters.

Anthony voiced his frustration this week with the spiraling Knicks sinking in the standings, and Porzingis hopes Anthony stays patient and remains with the New York Knicks for the long term.

It was Hickory Night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Wednesday, with the Pacers adorned in uniforms honoring the fictional team in “Hoosiers” and the Knicks obliging by indulging the crowd by playing a game that appeared to be culled from the film.

Still, he reiterated his love for the city and acknowledged its grandeur when he said, “doing it in NY is better than doing it any place in the world”.

NY led 54-52 at halftime and the game was tied at 80 heading into the fourth quarter. NY was blown out 122-95 at home by the Toronto Raptors on Monday, letting Toronto shoot 52.9 percent from the floor while surrendering 58 points in the paint. However, the veteran scorer didn’t have much interest in leaving the Knicks for the Celtics. Familiarity is a key component of a championship team as it builds chemistry and trust but it’s been evidently absent in NY.

Anthony is in the second year of a five-year deal worth $124 million which he signed as a free agent two summers ago. If someone like Okafor or Anthony was added to the mix, coach Brad Stevens would be able to mix things up more on offense. “I’m pretty sure I’ll have that conversation with myself, my family, my team [agents]”. A third consecutive season without a playoff berth will not sit well with Anthony, and it could cause him to seriously re-think waiving his no-trade clause.
