Macy’s Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, which is now in its 89 year, is one of the biggest events to take place in the populous city.

The massive Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade kicked off in New York City on Thursday.
City leaders expect about three million people along the parade route. “We’re very proud of New York City and this wonderful tradition”.
“The parade was a way to push back on events around the world that are meant to intimidate”, Police Commissioner William Bratton claimed.
NEW YORK Americans paused Thursday to celebrate their blessings despite terrorism fears and racial tensions over fatal police shootings across the country.
Amid tight security deployment, NY officials had reassured people that they were safe during the holidays.
Those gazing up at the Hello Kitty, Snoopy, Paddington Bear and other balloons could also see police helicopters sweeping through the skies, looking for trouble.
More than 500 police officers were added this year to its anti-terror efforts from the recently formed Critical Response Command, a heavily armed unit that can rapidly respond to an attack.
Macy’s had its traditional giant balloons hovering above the parade march.
Photos from the area show officers perched atop buildings near the route.
On Thanksgiving morning, Obama called 10 service members – two from each of the five branches of the military – to wish them and their families a happy holiday. Jefferson was so adamantly against Thanksgiving that he refused to declare it a holiday during his presidency, and many say that he called the holiday “the most ridiculous idea ever conceived”. Her “Descendants” co-star Sofia Carson did appear and perform during the parade, and she marks the second big-name star to cancel an appearance over the past week.
