New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs Have Finalized Aroldis Chapman Trade

After a domestic violence accusation nixed a deal to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chapman was traded to NY and started the season on a 30-game suspension.

The Cubs paid a steep price, parting with top shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres and versatile pitcher Adam Warren, a former North Carolina star, in the four-player package going to the Yankees.

Warren, who Chicago acquired from the Yankees previous year for Starlin Castro has an ERA of 5.91 this season in 35 innings of action.

Despite trading for Chapman this off-season, the Yankees have chose to cash in on the talented reliever with the 100-mph fastball to get an infield prospect in Torres, who is hitting.275 with a.359 on-base percentage and.791 OPS. He was the first player penalized a finite number of games under Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy. But, the Cubs always find a way to blow it in the postseason so I have faith they’ll be chasing that they’re first world series in 109 years next year. “I don’t have any information, but my agent did say that they’re talking to him”.

Chapman said in a statement: “I regret that I did not exercise better judgment and for that I am truly sorry”. “We’re trying to win games and he’s a big part of that”. Out of respect for my family, I will not comment any further on this matter.

“I am excited about today’s trade and look forward to joining the Chicago Cubs and meeting my new teammates”.

If you’re a Cubs fan without a social conscience, then you have to love the rumored acquisition of closer Aroldis Chapman and his triple-digit fastball.

Rizzo went toward the Reds dugout, igniting a bench-clearing incident.

After making their first major deadline move by trading closer Aroldis Chapman, the Yankees are considering selling more pieces.

Basically, the Cubs saw a weakness in their bullpen and attempted to fix it with the best person available. He earns $11.325 million this year, after which he’ll become a free agent. In his career, Chapman is averaging 15.2 strikeouts per nine innings pitched. That fits in well with manager Joe Maddon’s habit of asking relievers to get more than three outs on certain occasions. Chapman will add security in the late innings for the Cubs. The Dodgers had a deal in place last winter to acquire Chapman from the Cincinnati Reds, but they backed off after learning that Chapman was the subject of a domestic violence investigation. Neither team has confirmed this deal. Does his presence make them the World Series favorites?

Warren is 3-2 with a 5.91 ERA and 1.43 WHIP this season.

The Yanks still would have two All-Star relievers in their bullpen without Chapman in Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances, but getting an A-ball prospect wouldn’t help them this year.
