New Zealand makes 281-9 in 3rd ODI vs. Australia
Fronting up to the media before Sunday’s third and final one-day worldwide in Hamilton, Latham’s news conference was gatecrashed by Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell gatecrashed Tom Latham’s media conference ahead of the decider of the Chappell-Hadlee series.
New Zealand, meanwhile, also flattered to deceive but earned enough through centurion Ross Taylor and returning opener Dean Brownlie to secure an unassailable lead.
Taylor recorded his sixteenth ODI century equaling the New Zealand record held by Nathan Astle.
Brownlie (63) had his solid innings ended when he was caught behind off James Faulkner (3-59), Australia needing a review to get the decision.
New Zealand’s Trent Boult gave career-best performance and was declared player of the match. The hosts pulled off a close win in the first ODI by 6 runs.
Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis put on 53 for the fifth wicket but Boult’s return to the attack proved pivotal. Tail-enders Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc batted stoically as the overs trickled away before Cummins fell for 27 and the result was all but sealed.
New Zealand’s next series is against South Africa at home where they will play one T20I, five ODIs and three Tests.
Man of the match Boult said after the game: “It felt pretty good, one hell of a game”. Sodhi has been included for the final ODI following his impressive run in BBL. He last played worldwide cricket against Pakistan, in the UAE, in December 2014.

He started slowly with two runs off 13 deliveries but accelerated with a straight six off Mitchell Starc in the 44th over. This win is satisfying. We’ll be looking at the footage and asking all the boys who have actually played against him, just to see what they’ve got. That is what we needed to do. Ross Taylor with 107 and Trent Boult with 6/33 to clinch things. The surface was fantastic. “He’s been world-class for us, pretty much every game in the shorter formats, which complements the fast bowlers”. They resisted the temptation to bring in legspinner Ish Sodhi on the ground at which he troubled Australia in the corresponding game a year ago. Credit to our guys for sucking up the pressure.
