The woman, identified as 38-year-old Mary Grace Trinidad, was taken to a hospital for treatment, he said. The identity of the woman police have arrested for allegedly abandoning the child in the Subway bathroom has not been released, however, more information is expected soon.
A homeless woman who abandoned her newborn after giving birth at a Subway chain in West Covina, California, has been charged with attempted murder.
Subway employees said Trinidad is a regular customer.
Puddles of blood led panicked Subway staff to an umbilical cord sticking out of a toilet in the West Covina shop’s bathroom, according to KTLA-TV.
CBS Los Angeles reported people in the area saw Trinidad walking up and down the strip for at least a day while in labor.

Patton said police have notified the county’s Department of Children and Family Services about the birth and that the baby boy will be placed into protective custody. Trinidad was taken to the hospital for health issues related to her pregnancy. An update on his condition was not provided Tuesday. An 80 percent decrease in babies found, dead or alive, after their mothers simply left them at will in any unattended location of their choosing, has been realized since 2011. She was also wanted on a $30,000 drugs warrant, police said.
