Steve McClaren has denied any rift with Papiss Cisse after the striker was replaced at half-time during Newcastle’s defeat to Watford. We want to figure out how we can get the win.
“We don’t need to be told, we know what is going on”. That’s what we want to do, starting with the cup game.
McClaren’s only win came in the Capital One Cup second round against League Two Northampton, and as he prepares for the third round clash with Sky Bet Championship Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday evening, he is hoping disgruntled fans can remain patient.
“It’s not like the league where you can recover the next week so we’re focused as I said from last weekend and we’re looking forward to the game”. We want to win as much as everybody else.
“We felt we needed to add some type of pace and approach it a little differently”.
“But he’s a good manager, a good coach and the lads are happy and right behind him”.
“The players are going out on the pitch knowing that if there is a wayward pass, there are going to be groans, which I think sums up Newcastle at the present time. But we can all see and all know that is has to be better”.
It is another headache for McClaren, whose side have endured a disastrous start to the campaign.
“Everyone believes we can do it. It’s just a matter of putting the pieces together”, said de Jong.
