Newcastle launch audacious £19m bid for Ligue 1’s star striker

Newcastle United, who are now in the bottom 3 and struggling against relegation, had made a bid of 22 million pounds for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and, though the bid was accepted by the club, the player ruled against the move to the struggling club.

Newcastle United have reportedly decided against making a formal approach for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

As a result, the Magpies’ recruitment team are set to rekindle their interest in Dost, another long-standing target who has scored seven Bundesliga goals with Wolfsburg this season.

That meeting is understood to have ended with the Newcastle delegation confirming the club’s willingness to strike a deal worth around €25m for Lacazette.

But now, according to L’Equipe, Newcastle are ready to beat their Premier League rivals and snap up the France worldwide in January.

Reports in France have suggested Newcastle have placed a bid of €25million (£18.6m) for Lacazette.

Lacazette is unsettled at Lyon after falling out with Aulas when he went public on his wage demands.

There is a very real chance he will move on this summer, with Lyon particularly disappointing this season, now in ninth position in the table.
