Plan a trick-or-treating route.
This year, Halloween falls on a weekend night, providing a greater opportunity for trick-or-treaters to stay out late and more adults to attend parties where alcohol and/or marijuana is offered. Make sure your yard is clear of debris or hazards that might injure someone. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to the left as possible.
Costume masks can make it harder for a trick-or-treater to see. All costumes and masks should be clearly marked as flame resistant. You will want to stay away from a previously opened package or anything that has been punctured, as well as any homemade goodies; so save the treats for later and focus on enjoying the ambiance of the evening. Consider face paint or makeup as an alternative.
