A Kapaau man bitten Sunday afternoon by a tiger shark off Upolu Point in North Kohala continues to recover in the hospital. Luckily, he had a crew of friends there to save him.

“Love you too!” Mr Braxton replied.
Braxton Rocha swam to shore and called his fishing buddies for help, who then called for an ambulance.
Hawaii News Now reports that Rocha was transported by a helicopter to North Hawaii Hospital where he had his injury treated.
Fortunately Braxton’s mum Laurie confirmed the doctor had given him a “good prognosis”, although the extent of his injuries aren’t fully known.
No beaches are closed, since this occurred in an isolated and remote area. They warned people not to go into the ocean after heavy rains because muddy water can attract sharks.
It was the second shark attack in waters around Hawaii island this year. Margaret Cruse was snorkeling when she was fatally bitten by a shark at Ahihi Bay on April 29.
“I just got attacked by a tiger shark!” he says while being carried on a stretcher in the video.

There were six shark encounters in Hawaii in 2014, none them fatal.
