It is now more than two years since the German’s horrific skiing accident where he suffered serious head injuries after going off-piste on the French Alps in December 2013.

After spending several months in hospital, the 47-year-old returned to his home in Switzerland in September 2014, and has since been receiving intensive treatment at home, out of the public eye.

“He was a fantastic driver and only had one accident with Ferrari in 1999”.

But Di Montezemolo, who as the president of Ferrari oversaw Schumacher’s unprecedented success, has provided a bleak outlook regarding his former driver.

A quick recap of how we got here: Back in December of 2013 Schumacher crashed while skiing and was left with life-threatening brain injuries.

Schumacher’s management declined to comment when contacted by the Independent. A spokesman later added that Streiff’s comments were merely “his opinion”.

She said: “Unfortunately, we are forced by a recent press report to clarify that the assertion that Michael could move again is not true”. “Unfortunately they also give false hopes to many involved people”.
