A Palestinian attempted to stab an Israeli at a junction in the occupied West Bank on Thursday and was shot, police said.

Israeli officials have been referring to the attackers as acting mostly on their own and indeed the Meir Amit center’s report agreed with the assessment, saying the average attacker was following a spontaneous personal decision without following any formal organization or leadership.

Al-Ayyam said Hamas chairman, Khaled Mashal, called for adopting a national strategy to support the ongoing Palestinian “uprising” against Israel.

The attack is the latest in a wave of increased violence that has left at least eleven Israelis dead and over 150 injured since the beginning of October, according to Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon replied that this was another Palestinian anti-Semitic lie.

Palestinians say that the Israeli Jews living in Hebron are armed and are often responsible for the violence.

The Israelis fired rubber bullets, tear gas and stun grenades before forcing open the gates of the university and going inside.
