Newton: I’m black QB that scares people
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton says just because he’s preparing for the Super Bowl and all the hype that comes with it, he won’t change who he is.

Even non-football watchers know Newton thanks to his role as pitchman for products ranging from headphones to Gatorade and yogurt.
Never mind that Newton’s foundation helped feed 900 kids during Thanksgiving. He insists that Newton the person remains the same.
“I’m an African-American quarterback that may scare a lot of people because they haven’t seen nothing they can compare me to”.
“It’s tough, because people are going to hate you regardless”. “If it is at all possible I know they are going to get me back”, he added.
The quarterback says “people are going to judge, and have opinions on things I don’t have control over”. “I think you should be able to come out and have fun”. The Broncos led the NFL with 52 sacks and allowed a league-low 283.1 yards per game, then made life hard as can be for Brady on Sunday, knocking him to the ground over and over. He ranked 11th in Football Outsiders’ QB value metric, ahead of Aaron Rodgers and Eli Manning. The other five are Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers, retired Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, Steve McNair of the Tennessee Titans and Williams, who is well aware that Newton cited race as a reason Newton thinks he’s been criticized so harshly this season.
“People expect franchise quarterbacks to act a certain way. Half a century. This is a special time”, Scott said. “But, once you get to the game, Cam has more physical attributes for you to deal with than Peyton”. Speaking of guys like Brett, people forget Brett was a fiery dude. “You don’t want to let a guy celebrate in your end zone, don’t let him score”.
“It’s amusing we still fight that battled based on what?”
“I feel that experience is often times overrated because of my own experience”, said Aikman, who 22 of 30 for 273 yards and four touchdown passes as the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl 27 when the Dallas Cowboys routed the Buffalo Bills 52-17. Newton is the only player, within a one-year span, to be awarded the Heisman Trophy (by a landslide), win a national college championship and become the first overall pick in the NFL draft.
Manning indicated to New England coach Bill Belichick in a postgame conversation Sunday that this year might be his “last rodeo”. This year he’s in the conversation for MVP.
“I’m sure he’s as pissed as anybody, and disappointed”, the coach said, “and will probably come back as determined as he did from the surgery”.

“I don’t think people have seen what I am or what I’m trying to do”. The only thing that’s changed is we’re winning.
