In a jam-packed event, Google unveiled a whole slew of updated products for its Android platform.
Google sent invites to the press last September 18, for an event on September 29.
The new devices are a source of excitement for tech lovers and Google has already started taking pre-orders which will begin shipping in mid-October.
Both 5X and the Nexus 6P come a fingerprint reader that will scan a print – instead of demanding a user to put in a password – in less than 600 milliseconds, together with the newest Nexus Imprint, Burke said.
The newly unveiled LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P comes preloaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The specs of the 6P match that of most flagships, with a 5.7-inch screen, a Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 12MP camera. The handset also comes with a USB Type-C port and a 2,700mAh battery. The Huawei Nexus 6P will cost US$499 for 32GB, US$549 for 64GB and US$649 for the 128GB model.
The report suggests that Nexus are not a megahit but they are crucial in promoting Google’ Android operating system, the mobile software that runs over 80 percent of the world’s smartphones and tablets. Needless to say, the smartphone is priced under the posh devices from Apple like the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus – in fact Google has priced it even lower than Samsung’s offerings.
The latter is a dongle that plugs in to the earphone jack of your speakers, TV or auto stereo, allowing you to stream music to the device.
San Francisco: Google fired back at Apple on Tuesday with a pair of new smartphones, a “convertible” tablet and other gadgetry ahead of the year-end holiday shopping season. Another key new feature in Marshmallow is its support for fingerprint sensors like the ones available on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.
