Next Nexus phones to have different size screens but same specifications

For the first time in its history, Google launched two new Nexus handsets a year ago including the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P, copying Apple’s new iPhone launch strategy. The HTC “Sailfish” which is the successor of Nexus 5X and HTC “Marlin” which is next in line of “Nexus 6P”, will apparently have the same specs.

HTC Nexus Marlin was spotted on Geekbench, according to leakster Roland Quandt. The post reveals some specs of the upcoming smartphone, mainly that it will be powered by a quad-core 1.6GHz processor and 4GB of RAM.

The new Nexus devices expected this year will be coming with Android Nougat out-of-the-box and some of the existing Android devices will be upgraded to the newest iteration.

That’s significantly ahead of the 4417 score achieved by the iPhone 6S and nearly identical to the 4962 multi-core score of the HTC 10, both of which are speedy handsets, so if the listing is authentic you can expect meaty performance from the new Nexus.

This adds more confirmation to the specs that already surfaced on the Marlin, but this still needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Since the HTC 10 is the present flagship of the company it should be no surprise it will receive the Android Nougat in the first wave.

The HTC Nexus is identified with the codename Google Marlin and the benchmarks have revealed some of the specifications on the handset.

The report suggests that the Nexus Marlin will support a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 X 1440 pixels.

Google is looking to launch its own smartphone by the end of this year, but it is not killing off the Nexus series yet. Usually, the release of a new Android system meant new Nexus devices.

Recent reports claim the HTC Nexus M1 Marlin will pack in a 12-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and selfies. Of course, until Google officially announces this device, al of these specifications should not be held as immutable. A USB Type-C port placed along with the two speaker grilles.

There are strong rumours that HTC will soon team up with Google once again to launch two Nexus-branded smartphones later this year. The handset is also expected to feature a large 3450mAh battery.
