MONDAY: Mostly cloudy skies and scattered rain showers will be around for next Monday, with a high temperature of 54 degrees. Highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Skies wil become clear through early afternoon before more clouds roll in during the evening. Lows in the mid 40s. Expect the winds to pick up through Friday as the coldest air rushes in. We really won’t warm much at all through the day with the afternoon high reaching 59. In fact, near-record warmth is in store next week, ahead of the first official day of winter, December 22.

Hang on to the umbrellas, more rain is probably on the way.

The arrival of the first storm is forecast for Friday when rain is likely in Sacramento, starting around 5 p.m. The rain could very well continue into Saturday. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Rain totals will likely be close to a quarter of an inch in the Upstate while mountain towns range between and quarter inch and a half inch of rain.

Snow showers end Friday night, then becoming partly cloudy. Patchy fog before 9pm.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 38 degrees as of 6:54 a.m.at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with mostly cloudy skies reported. Low around 63. South wind around 5 miles per hour becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Expect temperatures in the upper 20s to mid 30s across the region.

The skies should turn cloudy overnight as temperatures drop to near 69 degrees. They also cause our highs to fall to near 50.
