NFL Draft 2016 returns to Chicago

Hopefully, Chicago will remain in the rotation and continue to host future drafts, but it won’t become an exclusive host city like New York did for decades when it was held at Radio City Music Hall.

The NFL draft is returning to Chicago next year.

The 2015 draft’s opening rounds were held at Roosevelt University’s Auditorium Theatre, while the big hit was Draft Town, a free outdoor fan festival in Grant Park and Congress Plaza that drew around 200,000 people and praise from NFL officials.

There had been widespread speculation that Los Angeles might host the 2016 draft as a way to showcase the city for a team (or teams) possibly relocating there next season.

“We are excited to return to Chicago and look forward to creating an even better experience for our fans next year”, said Commissioner Goodell.

The 2015 NFL Draft was held in Chicago this year and according to a Tuesday morning report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, that’s where the 2016 NFL Draft will also take place. Like most things NFL-related, there was a huge demand. So it’s not a surprise that the league has decided to keep the draft in the Windy City.
