NFL News and Rumors: Former Buffalo Bills Team Captain Fred Jackson Makes
The Buffalo News’ Tim Graham reported on Twitter Tuesday that GM Doug Whaley “went rogue” in cutting the 34-year-old fan favorite. Although Jackson was still an electric player he is the oldest running back in the NFL. He also had 66 catches for another 501 yards, both career highs.

Last season, with the Buffalo Bills, Jackson carried the ball 141 times and averaged 3.7 yards per carry.
Jackson isn’t going to blow away many other backs in the 40-yard dash. LeSean McCoy is the bellcow, Karlos Williams is the impressive rookie that has received rave reviews, Anthony Dixon is a versatile special teams player, and Bryce Brown has flashed some ability despite fumbling problems.
Bills representatives have stated that releasing Jackson is all on Whaley and that he made that decision alone.
Jackson is 34 years old, but still has proven he can be effective as a backup, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see someone scoop him up before the start of the season. Reluctantly, due to the magnitude of this participant and what he means, not exclusively to the Buffalo Payments, however to the group of Buffalo – him and his household. Whaley should have at least discussed the situation with Jackson before releasing him, as the two parties could have agreed on a restructured deal.
The Buffalo Bills shocked most people Monday morning when the team released their 12 roster cuts.
When asked what he finds appealing about Fred Jackson, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll dropped a potential hint regarding how the running back might be used if he signs with Seattle.
Veteran running back Fred Jackson was cut from the team, and fans (understandably) are not taking it well. “Fred and his family have been dedicated to this community and we can’t thank them enough for their contributions through his career”. In 14 games last season, Jackson had a career-low 525 yards with two touchdowns.

Jackson and Lynch played together on the Bills from 2007 through the first part of the 2010 season before Lynch was traded to Seattle.
