NFL owner buys historic Waggoner Ranch, largest in US
Nick Ut/AP/BloombergLos Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke has agreed to buy the historic Waggoner Ranch estate in Vernon, Texas. The original asking price was $725 million, which includes the cattle, horses, farm equipment, 30,000 acres of cropland, 1,000 oil wells, business offices, lakes and employees. Today, he is one the ninth largest land owner in America, having interests in several ranch properties prior to the Waggoner purchase.

Kroenke recently chose to move his National Football League team from St. Louis to a privately financed $1.8 billion stadium in Inglewood, Calif. Along with the Rams, he also owns the National Basketball Association’s Denver Nuggets, the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche, Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids, and two-thirds of the English Premier League’s Arsenal soccer club.
The W.T. Waggoner Estate Ranch began in 1870 with Dan and.T. “Tom” Waggoner. Specific terms of Kroenke’s purchase weren’t revealed. The ranch rapidly expanded over the next century and a half and is now the largest ranch under one fence in the country, stretching across six Texas counties.

According to multiple reports, including Bloomberg, Kroenke is set to buy Texas’ Waggoner Ranch, which checks in at more than 500,000 acres. “We will continue to preserve and protect this uniquely American treasure”. “All Waggoner shareholders express our deep appreciation to him, and to the brokers and lawyers and advisors who worked relentlessly to make this watershed day possible”. This is the first time the ranch, established in 1849, has ever been sold. We are excited about integrating this second-to-none ranch with our ranch holdings in the United States and in Canada. “We look forward to learning from and building on the remarkable heritage of this crown jewel of ranching”.
