NFL, Pepsi respond to Adele’s Super Bowl show turn-down

“Come, on. That show is not about music, and I don’t dance or anything like that”.

The 28-year-old singer claimed during her concert in Los Angeles on Saturday (13.08.16) that she had been asked to play at the star-studded event by the American football league association, but they don’t recall ever putting a concrete proposal on the table. And I don’t really – I can’t dance or anything like that.

The NFL and Pepsi, which sponsor the Super Bowl half-time show, issued a joint statement saying they were “big fans of Adele” but that no artist had been “extended a formal offer”.

“First of all, I’d like to tell you I’m not doing the Super Bowl”, she said. Adele said the organizers were kind enough to ask her but since the spectacle to her was more of a production number than just her singing, she said no.

Performers at previous half-time shows have included Beyoncé, Madonna, the Rolling Stones and Prince.

Meanwhile, Adele is planning to spend the rest of the year in America.

Adele turned down preforming at the 2017 Super Bowl, one of the highest profile gigs in the world.

“Some day we may get together, write, sing something, wouldn’t that be great?”

She said maybe she’d do it after completing her next album.

Parton is no stranger to a duet, and is known for singing songs including Islands in the Stream alongside Kenny Rogers.
