Osweiler threw for a touchdown and ran for another to lead the Texans to a 27-14 wild-card playoff win over Oakland. Osweiler, who signed the big money deal in the off-season, has not been worth the money this season as he has struggled to get things figured out.

Oakland cornerback David Amerson believes things would have been different if not for the team’s injuries. “We have guys that can and want to play, so we’ll get it taken care of”. They intercepted another one of Cooks’ passes with under 30 seconds to left to send them to the next round. One from Amari Cooper on a perfectly thrown long ball, one of the few the Raiders actually tried, and the worst being from Michael Crabtree when the Raiders had gotten the ball back after their first score.

Two plays before, Osweiler and Hopkins connected for a 38-yard gain to the Oakland 4-yard line. But the Raiders still could not convert on third down, even when facing 3rd and three. FootballOutsiders credits them as the fifth-best pass defense in the league, and Clowney is the leader of the pack. Their punter, Marquette King, plays with fire and has absolutely no regard for the NFL’s bylaws on player celebrations.

It’s easier when the opponent arrives with two gaping holes in its lineup, missing Derek Carr and Donald Penn. However, they too rarely gave him the reigns to be able to play well and by that time of the game it would have taken a miracle finish to win.
