NFL’s Burfict suspended for three games

Brown took a nasty hit from Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict in the final moments of the Steelers’ AFC Wild Card Game win Saturday night, forcing the wideout out of the game and into the NFL’s concussion protocol.

After the game, Jones made a profane Instagram post ripping the officials for their handling of the situation. He also said Munchak should have been ejected from the game and fined by the league.

Following the game, Jones posted a profanity-laced rant about “Jerry” Porter coming out onto the field but after having some time to cool off Jones wasn’t done being an idiot.

Caldwell is on hold • New Lions general manager Bob Quinn said he has not decided if he will retain coach Jim Caldwell.

“It didn’t hurt when I reached back to throw”, Roethlisberger said of the drive. “I know he was faking it (the injury)”, an irate Adam Jones said on the “Dan Patrick Show” earlier on Monday.

After the ugly game on December 13, Lewis emphasized to his players that they’ve got to keep their cool. He was unable to put any weight on his ankle as he was helped off the field and carted to the locker room. The NFL should even consider suspending the linebacker for more games, six or seven to send a message to the rest of the NFL not to lead with your head on a defenseless receiver. It’s a changing game, and unfortunately we had a guy (Shawn Williams) draw a penalty that was likely not a penalty in the game.

Burfict was fined almost $70,000 for three separate incidents when the Steelers and Bengals met in December, accounting for about half of the almost $140,000 in fines levied to players on both teams.

“Obviously at some point if you get no information you have to throw something out there and go for it”, said Nick Bogdanovich of the William Hill betting chain.

“We’re moving on”, Tomlin said.

Washington: Quarterback Robert Griffin III has cleared out his locker at team headquarters and is expected to be let go by the team that dealt a trove of draft picks for the right to pick him No. 2 overall in 2012. Whether the Steelers’ penalties are serious enough for Jones is doubtful, regardless.

The two penalties moved the Steelers from the Bengals’ 47-yard line to the 17. If one of their kids came over to our sideline and I snatched them down by the hair, I’m pretty sure I’d get kicked out of the game and fined over $2,000,000.
