NFL star Kaepernick to continue US anthem boycott
The NFL said that players are not required to stand for the national anthem. “I’m in a position where I can do that, and I’m gonna do that for people who can’t”. “Without him doing what he did it would just go unheard”, Ray says. And that’s something that needs to change. While I am annoyed with him for disrespecting our country I do commend him for taking a stand. “People are dying in vain because this country isn’t holding their end of the bargain up, as far as giving freedom and justice, liberty to everybody”. “And it’s not happening for all right now”.

Boone also said if they were still teammates and he had been there for Kaepernick’s protest, “We probably would have had a problem on the sideline”.
But of course we all know that there will be those patriotic people out there who will find Kaepernick’s stand offensive and demeaning to the country. When asked if he feels that his position could be seen as a distraction to the 49ers, Kaepernick said no and added that he feels it’s something that can “unify this team”.
“I’ll continue to sit”. “Again, the national anthem is a very personal thing for me, obviously for specific reasons – my father and my mother’s family and their service to this country”. Some support his right to do it while others think he’s being disrespectful to military and those who fought for his freedoms. “So, I think if I had known that, my emotions would’ve been rolling – I think we would’ve had a problem on the sideline”, Boone said, according to the LA Times.
Two days after he refused to stand for the “The Star Spangled Banner” before the 49ers’ preseason loss to the Packers, Kaepernick said his stand will continue.
