Kaepernick said he plans to sit during the national anthem again during his team’s game against the San Diego Chargers Thursday night, according to a CNN report.

Boyer said the two had a good talk before the game and he stood next to the kneeling Kaepernick on the sideline during the anthem.

“I don’t like it”, said Navy veteran John Lair.

Some have perceived it as a slight against the military, though the quarterback has said that’s not his intention. He told reporters on Saturday: “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. And they fight for freedom, they fight for the people, they fight for liberty and justice, for everyone”.

This weekend, the NFL and 49ers separately issued statements supporting a player’s right not to stand during the national anthem.

Domenique Banks, a 23-year-old fan from nearby Oceanside, California, got the quarterback to sign his Kaepernick jersey before the game.

Kaepernick’s only other exhibition action came with a three-series, 13-snap stint against the Packers, after he replaced Gabbert for the second quarter.

“Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Myke Tavarres, rapper T.I., the National Football League and most of black Twitter may be supporting Kaepernick’s stance against standing for “The Star-Bangled Banner”, but Rice just wants us “all to get along”. His invitation apparently was accepted by Reid, the 49ers’ starting safety.

Photos on sports websites and Twitter on Thursday showed Kaepernick wearing socks patterned with images of pigs in what appear to be police hats. “I have two uncles and friends who are police officers and serve ALL people”. He took to Instagram Thursday in an attempt to explain himself and saying he didn’t want the socks to “distract from the real issues”. Kaepernick did not suit up for the first two exhibitions as he battled a exhausted throwing shoulder. His letter mentions other players, such as the late Pat Tillman, a football player who left his sports career to join the armed forces after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Veterans and military members tweeted their support for Kaepernick in recent days under the hashtag “VeteransForKaepernick”.
